Pharmacological sedation of the patient
The principal operations of oral and implant surgery are performed in our studio under sedation; a technique performed by a specialist in anaesthetics, which has the purpose, through pharmaceuticals given by intravenous infusion to induce an adequate dental phobia and relaxation during the surgery sitting.
Through this procedure we can:
- Face operations and sittings of long duration
- Operate on patients in perfect tranquillity
- Treat patients that have “phobia of the dentist”
- Eliminate the reflex di nausea and vomit
This sedation is called conscious; it is not a general anaesthetic; the patient in fact:
- is not incubated
- is not “asleep”
- is calm and collaborates with the doctor
- a local anaesthetic is always applied
- the sedation has an amnesic effect, therefore the patient does not have a traumatic experience of the dental treatment
The patient during the operation, for the own safety, is monitored through a hospital type computerised multiparameter system that allows continuously to have:
- electrocardiograph trace
- cardiac and respiratory frequency
- maximum and minimum pressure
- oxygen levels
